My name is Zara Picken and I am a UK-based illustrator. My concept-driven work embraces colours, shapes and textures. I enjoy creating bold, layered compositions that play with light and shadow, creating visuals that combine digital precision and the charm of paper-cut art. Since graduating in 2008, I have developed a diverse portfolio, illustrating for clients across editorial, publishing, and advertising.
When I’m not illustrating, I can be found developing Modern Illustration, an ongoing archive project documenting the history of print illustration from 1950 to 1975.
