I’m a German illustrator and artist based in beautiful Cornwall/UK, where I am currently undertaking a master’s degree in Authorial Illustration.
My biggest inspiration running like a golden thread through my life is the human-nature connection: how we perceive ourselves as part of it – or not –, how we interact with nature, how we achieve the blissful state of truly feeling part of it. With my work, I hope to encourage a curious engagement, and a sense of wonder for this beautiful, complex organism we call nature.
Together with my love for books and storytelling, I have a special interest in narrative illustration, may it be a narrative told in a book, through a mural or in a magazine. Believing firmly in the irreplaceability of the human touch, I work with traditional media by hand: mainly with gouache, acrylics, and coloured pencils. To allow more flexibility, small changes, and final touches can easily be done digitally. I create delicate, highly detailed illustrations with plenty to explore and densely layered textures adding a unique feel to my work.
When I am not drawing, painting, or writing, you will most likely find me exploring the Great Outdoors or an English Garden with my dog, friends, and family, browsing beautiful picture books, doing medical research, drinking a lot of decaffeinated double espresso, listening to music, or foraging in the woods.
