Paula Heister is a German-British children’s and pattern illustrator currently based in Vienna.
Before she became an illustrator, she trained as a doctor, and since completing her children’s book illustration MA at the Cambridge School of Art, she has been happily hopping between art and science.
She creates most of her images using traditional printmaking techniques and enjoys working in bright colours, bold shapes, and strong textures.
Paula was named highly commended new talent in the science and technology category of the World Illustration Awards 2023, and a finalist at the Illustrators’ Exhibition of Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2024.
