My name is Mojca Novak, I’m a Slovene picture book illustrator based in Soria, Spain. I’ve been freelancing since 2020 and work under the pseudonym Mocculere.
I draw with digital and analog media, the latter being mostly coloured pencils, wax pastels, and pen. My style is versatile and comes in different forms: sometimes it’s very colourful and full of interesting textures, and other times it’s drawn with a simple black pen and pencil.
I find inspiration in mundane things and situations, and am interested in human behavior, communication, the cycle of life, and birds.
My main focus is illustrating picture books, but am also fond of drawing comics and editorial illustration. When I work on personal projects, my ideas originate from a single character that has somehow manifested itself in my mind. For me, a drawing never is just that – there’s always potential for a story to grow out of it.
