Hi! I’m Anna Pirolli, an Italian freelance illustrator based in Milan. I’ve been working for communication and advertising agencies for over twenty-five years, creating digital games, animations, product illustrations, and advertising campaigns. This experience has given me great flexibility in tackling a wide range of projects.
My first illustrated book, I hate my cats, written by Davide Calì, was published in 2018. Since then, I’ve focused primarily on children’s publishing, collaborating with publishers around the world, including Chronicle Books, Tundra Books, Saltimbanque Editions, HarperCollins, and Mondadori.
I’ve worked digitally for a long time, but now, when I can, I love illustrating books with analog techniques like acrylic, watercolor, and tempera. In my illustrations, I love creating warm and engaging atmospheres, highlighting the relationships between characters and all those small details that bring a drawing to life. I have taught “Illustrated Book Design” at the European Institute of Design, the Brera Academy, and the International School of Comics.
