My name is Sanika Phawde. I am an illustrator, cartoonist, reportage artist, and educator. I am currently based between New York City and Boston. I have been working as a freelance illustrator since 2018.

I specialize in hand-lettering, comics, package design, surface pattern design, and food illustration. My clients include Spotify, The New Yorker Magazine, Acrylicize, Simply Gum, The Wilderness Society, Food and Wine Magazine, Uber, D&AD, among others. My work has been featured in publications like Print Mag, VICE, Creative Boom, American Illustration, and Boston Art Review, among others. After graduating with a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design, I earned my MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay, from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Since then I have worked as a part-time faculty at Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, and Massachusetts College of Art, where I am currently teaching in the Illustration department as Full full-time faculty.

I have exhibited my work in comics and reportage festivals and group shows around the world. My work has been acknowledged by the Art Directors Club with a Pencil for Best Illustration Portfolio in 2021.
