Irene Penazzi is an Italian illustrator and children’s book author based in Venice, Italy. She has a degree in Illustration from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and completed an internship at the Hamburg University of Applied Science (HAW Hamburg, Germany).
Her images are inspired by her childhood memories and the nature that surrounds her. She works mainly with colored pencils and watercolors and loves the fact that working with traditional techniques could always surprise.
She is the author and illustrator of three books published by Maison Eliza (France): Dans le jardin (In the garden, 2018), Dans la montagne (In the mountains, 2021) and A la mer (To the sea, 2024). Her illustrations were showcased in the “Italian Excellence. The New Generation of Children’s Illustrators” exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2021.
She is a very curious person and thinks that the best way to know something is to draw it.
