Hi! I’m a graphic designer turned surface pattern designer and illustrator from the port city of Fremantle, Western Australia. We have an abundance of sunshine and clear, bright light in Australia which I’m sure is the reason I love to use lots of delicious, bright colours in my work.
All my art is hand-drawn or painted, using a nib pen, or painting with different brushes, using water-based and acrylic inks, and sometimes watercolour and coloured pencil. Inks are my medium of choice at the moment because I love the intensity and clarity of colour and inky effects I can achieve, and I love nib pens for the slight wonkiness of the lines. Paintings and drawings are then brought together using Photoshop or Illustrator to create repeat patterns or illustrations.
Things that inspire me most to create are vintage and retro objects from my childhood or that have a story to tell, the shapes and patterns from plants and animals, and food, because, well I love to eat!
My work has been described as conversational, whimsical, detailed, colourful, playful, and full of texture and you can find my designs on fabric, wallpaper, home décor and clothing. I’m open to licensing, freelance, and commission work, so please drop me a line if you like what you see and we can have a chat about how we could work together, I’d love to help you with your next project!
