How can I join the directory?
The directory is invite-only to keep the quality high for all the illustrators. But if you’re interested in applying you can send an email to hello@creativehowl.com and make sure to include a link to any social media.
What’s the goal of the project?
The goal is to create a quality directory of illustrators making it easy to find talented illustrators to hire for companies and putting a spotlight on amazing creatives.
Do you take any fees or commissions?
No, joining the directory is 100% free. There are no fees, commissions, or anything like that. Apart from submitting your text and images, there are no other commitments.
How come it’s free?
I think it’s fair that it’s free considering what I’m offering. Also, to keep the quality of illustrators high I think it’s important that it’s not “pay to join”.
The directory is a side-project of Creativehowl, and on Creativehowl I sometimes make money from ads, affiliate links, and sponsored posts. My philosophy with Creativehowl is to focus not only on projects that make money but also on projects that give back to the creative community.
How are you promoting the illustration directory?
The directory is a part of Creativehowl and receives visitors from the main site. It’s also promoted through our social media channels, but the main source of traffic is from search engines like Google, DuckDuckGo & Bing. With the help of participating illustrators sharing and linking to the directory, the project grows and receives more and more traffic. Together we can grow this directory.
If I decide to join how and where will my illustrations be used?
Your images will only be used in your directory listing and on Creativehowl’s social media channels to promote your listing and the directory.
I’m a part of an agency, is that an issue for joining?
Nope, it’s no problem at all. This is only an online directory of illustrators. It’s not an agency, we don’t take any fees or commissions.
Who is behind the Illustration directory and Creativehowl?
My name is Jonas Welin I’m the creator of Creativehowl. I’m an illustrator and sculptor passionate about sharing resources and inspiration with the creative community.
Is AI art allowed in the directory?
No, AI-generated art or so-called “AI artists” are NOT allowed in the Illustrator directory.
