My name is Reeta, and I’m a Finnish freelance pattern designer. I’ve designed a lot of prints for womenswear, but also for home textiles, paper products, and woven fabrics. Alongside pattern design, I create art prints and black-and-white monotypes.
I’m interested in mark-making and working in a way where the final result is not planned too much beforehand. I like a relaxed and intuitive process, where accidents and mistakes can become the starting point for something new. Quite often, the most interesting ideas come from things that were never planned. Mark-making is also something I turn to when I feel completely out of ideas.
Abstract surfaces and textures feel natural to me, and I’ve designed a lot of two-colour everyday prints. At the same time, I’m also fascinated by more layered digitally printed patterns. Flowers and botanical themes are an endless source of inspiration for me. I work both by hand and digitally.
