Pangolins are awesome, fascinating creatures (the only mammals with "scales," which are made of keratin like your hair and nails; they curl up protectively like armadillos and hedgehogs) but one of my favorite things is how they sometimes trundle along on their back feet, with their front claws off the ground. Inspired by this posture, I decided this pangolin should have something to hold: a popsicle!
This hard enamel pin is modeled on the White Bellied Pangolin (also known as the Tree Pangolin) with Rose Gold metal finish. It's approximately 1.5" wide by 0.875" tall, with two green rubber clutch backs. The artist's name (mine) is embossed on the back, and the pin comes on an illustrated card that features cozy jungle foliage and extra popsicles.
The pin will be packed in tissue paper and a padded envelope to protect it from damage. Please note that pins have been checked multiple times but may have some small imperfections. You will receive a B+/A grade pin, not a perfect or collector-grade pin.
Care and keeping of your pangolin-pin: because much of this pin has a metal finish, you may find small imperfections, scratches, or smudges on the pin from normal wear. I've found these can usually be buffed out with a cloth, or even a gentle polish with a toothbrush. You may also prefer the natural patina that develops from use.
One more note about pangolins: two species of pangolins are critically endangered due to poaching and trafficking, and all eight species are protected by laws and regulations. I highly recommend checking out the IUCN SSC Pangolin Specialist Group and World Wildlife Fund to find out more about protecting these weird, great animals.
